Rise & Read is our signature literacy program dedicated to empowering children and young adults with the reading skills, resources, and support they need to succeed in school, in their future careers, and in life.

Reading is more than a skill. It is the foundation for learning every other subject. From mathematics and science to history, technology, and the arts, children must be able to read, comprehend, and communicate effectively to fully engage with the world around them. When children struggle with literacy, the effects can reach far beyond the classroom, limiting educational opportunities, career choices, and long-term economic mobility.

Yet literacy challenges do not end when students leave school. Millions of adults around the world struggle with basic reading skills, creating barriers to employment, financial stability, and everyday independence. The economic consequences are significant, costing businesses and industries billions of dollars through reduced productivity, increased training costs, and lost opportunities. Our initiatives include:

• Book Vending Machines in Schools: Expanding access to engaging, age-appropriate books by placing book vending machines in as many schools as possible. These machines give students an exciting opportunity to choose books of their own, encourage reading for pleasure, and help build a lifelong love of learning
• Literacy Resources for Schools: Providing funding for books, reading materials, educational technology, and other resources that help schools address literacy gaps and create stronger learning environments
• Tutoring and Reading Support: Supporting tutoring programs and individualized learning opportunities that help children and young adults strengthen reading comprehension, build confidence, and develop essential academic skills
• Resources for Teachers and Educators: Helping educators access instructional materials, literacy tools, and additional resources that support effective teaching and meet the diverse needs of their students
• Expanded Learning Opportunities: Supporting creative, community-based initiatives that make reading more accessible, engaging, and meaningful for learners at different stages of their educational journeys

Many STEAM initiatives concentrate their resources on middle school and high school students. While these years are important, the foundation for future achievement begins much earlier.

Elementary school is where children develop many of the foundational skills, learning habits, and attitudes that influence how they approach more advanced subjects in middle school, high school, college, and beyond. Early exposure to STEAM can help students develop curiosity, confidence, problem-solving abilities, and an understanding of how classroom learning connects to the world around them.

We believe children should have the opportunity to explore science, experiment with technology, build, design, create, and ask big questions long before they are expected to choose a career path. At the Rise and Inspire Foundation, we believe that caring for a mother means caring for the life she carries—and that supporting a newborn means supporting the entire family. That belief is the foundation of Rise for Two, our maternal and fetal health initiative dedicated to helping expectant mothers, newborns, and families access the care, resources, and support they need during one of life's most important journeys.

Pregnancy and the arrival of a new baby can bring extraordinary joy, but they can also bring unexpected medical expenses, emotional challenges, financial uncertainty, and difficult decisions. For families facing high-risk pregnancies, premature births, extended hospital stays, or postpartum health challenges, those pressures can become overwhelming. A hospital visit, an insurance copay, time away from work, or the need for additional in-home care can create financial burdens that extend well beyond delivery.

Too often, families must focus on how they will afford essential care when their energy should be devoted to healing, bonding, and welcoming a new life.

Rise for Two exists to help bridge that gap.

Through partnerships with physicians, hospitals, healthcare professionals, and community organizations, we work to expand access to essential support for expectant mothers and families, with particular attention to those facing elevated medical, financial, or other barriers to care. Our goal is to help families navigate the journey from pregnancy through childbirth and the newborn period with greater peace of mind, dignity, and support.

Rise for Two recognizes that maternal and fetal well-being are deeply connected to the resources and support available to families. Quality healthcare matters, but so do the practical needs that make it possible for mothers and babies to receive care, recover safely, and thrive.

Our initiative is designed to provide financial assistance, strengthen connections to care, and support families through the moments when help can make the greatest difference.

Maternal and Fetal Healthcare Assistance

We aim to help eligible expectant mothers access essential healthcare by providing financial assistance for qualifying hospital visits, insurance copayments, and other approved pregnancy-related medical expenses. Through collaboration with healthcare providers, we seek to reduce financial barriers that may prevent families from obtaining timely, appropriate care.

Support for High-Risk Pregnancies

For mothers experiencing high-risk pregnancies or facing additional health, financial, or social challenges, the need for consistent support can be especially important. Rise for Two works to connect eligible families with healthcare partners and appropriate resources while helping address qualifying financial barriers to care.

Newborn Bonding and Recovery Support

The first weeks after childbirth are important for a mother's recovery and a baby's development. We aim to provide eligible families with financial stipends that help offset the loss of income when a mother needs time away from work to recover, care for her newborn, and establish a healthy beginning for her family.

Financial Assistance for Families of Premature Babies

When a baby arrives prematurely, families may face an unexpected and emotionally demanding journey through the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and beyond. Extended hospital stays, frequent visits, transportation, additional caregiving needs, and time away from work can create significant financial strain.

Rise for Two seeks to ease some of these burdens by helping eligible families offset qualifying expenses associated with premature birth, including approved care-related costs, hospital visits, and the financial pressures of extended time away from employment.

Our goal is to help parents remain focused on their babies during a time when their presence, strength, and emotional well-being matter so much.

Postpartum Mental Health Support

A mother's health includes her emotional and mental well-being. The transition into motherhood can bring challenges that are difficult to anticipate or manage without appropriate support. Postpartum depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns can affect mothers and families in profound ways.

Rise for Two aims to help eligible mothers access appropriate mental health services by providing financial assistance for qualifying care, counseling, and related support. We believe seeking help should be met with compassion, not stigma, and that mothers deserve the opportunity to receive support as they heal and adjust to life with a newborn.

In-Home Nursing and Newborn Care Assistance

Some families need additional hands-on support after bringing a baby home, particularly following a complicated delivery, premature birth, or an extended hospital stay. Rise for Two seeks to help eligible families access qualified in-home nursing support, including appropriate overnight nursing assistance when available and medically or practically warranted.

By helping offset qualifying costs, we hope to ease the transition home, support parental recovery, and help families obtain the additional assistance they need during the early weeks of newborn care.

Recognizing the Heroes of Neonatal Care

Behind every premature baby who receives specialized care is a team of dedicated professionals working tirelessly to protect, nurture, and support the most vulnerable patients. NICU nurses, neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and other neonatal care professionals provide expertise, compassion, and reassurance to families navigating some of the most uncertain moments of their lives.

Rise for Two is committed to recognizing and celebrating these extraordinary professionals. Through fundraising and recognition initiatives, we aim to honor neonatal and maternal healthcare teams, highlight their contributions, and show appreciation for the people who make a difference in the lives of mothers, babies, and families every day.

Because caring for those who care for our most vulnerable patients is part of building a stronger, more compassionate healthcare community.
